The project was for an exhibition at the University for the Creative arts on the topic of ‘Orientalism’. It was a collaboration of 5 classmates to showcase the reality behind why trains were introduced to India by the British.
Project deliverables-
1. 1 model of the Indian Railways in 1953 made from laser cut wood
2. 3 videos talking about the British vs Indian perspective in the medium of cutout animation,
3. 6 Railway ‘Tickets’ that would link to an article talking about the history of India and Britain.
My contribution - The video from British perspective talking about why they introduced railways to India
British Perspective (made by me)
The first video is meant to depict the mindset of the British Empire and their view of India as a backwards and underdeveloped country that needed their help in order to become civilized.
